Sad. Angry. Insecure. Anxious. Moody. Disruptive. Secretive. Manipulative. Deceitful. A bully.
Do you ever wonder “Where’s the Happy button?!” As a parent, you want the best for your child and it can be frustrating to understand why they are struggling with different issues. Life as a teenager can be hard. Teenage years are full of changes and self-discovery. If any of these words describe your teen and it is negatively impacting their life, counseling may help. Let me help your teen create a strong and positive identity within themselves that will carry with them into adulthood.
Teens talk to me and I listen. As an adolescent therapist, I create a safe place where teenagers can trust me and express feelings freely. During our time together, I work with teens to overcome through stressful emotions and events. Sometimes issues with our past can also interfere with how we feel about the present. Together we address the multitude of emotions that teens experience at varying degrees and for various reasons. Feelings of anxiety, fear, stress, sadness, and anger are all normal emotions to feel, however, it is the response to those emotions that can cause problems when not appropriately processed and expressed. Together, we will identify and establish positive coping skills that your teen can use to handle these emotions and difficult situations better.
Teen therapy can also make parent’s lives easier by lessening the chaos at home and can make your teen’s life at school and home a much better place. We can discuss ways to help create healthy family communication and assist parents in understanding the dynamics of their teen’s world. Teen therapy provides an outside perspective of the situation to help explore and rationalize thoughts and beliefs that are behind the anxiety, fear, anger, or depression. Fighting these emotions alone can be overwhelming and hard to talk about. Let me help your teen work through behavior and emotional concerns so your teen and family can be happy again.
